Thank you both for sharing your experience of how service quickly and unexpectedly turns to sacrifice and the lesson of its impact. It’s so easy to make this day about so much less than it should be, but as a military wife myself, what I’ve learned is that innocent triviality is exactly what they’re fighting for. For better or worse, their sacrifice gives us the freedom to bbq and pool party and celebrate summer today. And if we can use today to be a little better, as individuals, as communities, as a nation, that would be enough. I’m certainly going to do my part. ❤️
